The Consul General Couple visted the University of Science and Technology of China for Program Cooperation
On December 22nd, Dr. Eyal Propper, the Consul General of Israel in shanghai and his wife Ifat Propper, who is in charge of the Odyssey Program in the Hebrew Univeristy, visited USTC.
On December 22nd, Dr. Eyal Propper, the Consul General of Israel in shanghai and his wife Ifat Propper, who is in charge of the Odyssey Program in the Hebrew Univeristy, visited USTC. Mr. Chen Chusheng, Vice President and the leaders of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department attended the meeting.
Mr. Chen Chusheng first welcomed the CG's visit to the cooperate between the junior class and the Hebrew University "gifted youth" program. He said, our university is the first one in China to set up a youth class training program. In the past 39 years, over 2000 outstanding students have been trained. They have made outstanding contributions in the development of world science and technology.He hoped that the junior class would cooperate with Hebrew University's Odyssey Program to innovate the training model of talent and cultivate more talented people.
Dr. Eyal Propper said he was very pleased to came to the University again. Ms Ifat Propper, said that she was impressed very much by the students' research achievements here . They really hope that the two university can cooperate together,exchange experiences and carry out educational cooperation projects. Then she gave a brief introduction about the Odyssey Program's history, the selection mechanism, the training mode and the training idea of the team cooperation.
In the afternoon, the Consul General couple visited the junior class(gifted youth) and have a symposium with teachers and students. Mr. Chen Yang, the Dean of "gifted youth" classes introduces the history of the college admissions, curriculum training and achievements. The two parts made a nice discussion on the issues of concern. At the end, Dr. Eyal Propper sent a message for "gifted youth" students: listen to yourself and challenge yourself.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was founded in 1925,which is the first university of the Jewish nation, known as the "Middle East Harvard". The mathematics, physics, computer science, economics and other disciplines are of the world's top 50. The university has 8 Nobel prize winners and 14 Wolf prize winners. There are 973 faculty members in the school, with a total of 23500 students, and the total number of scientific research projects accounts for 30% of the total number of academic research projects in Israel. The Odyssey Program was initiated by Mr. Shimon Peres, the Former President of Israel. It is aimed to cultivate a new generation of technology leaders with both social leadership and rich social responsibility. The project selection is started from outstanding students of Grade 8. In a period of four years training, students can obtain the required credits through both holidays and routine training, seminars and workshops.
