At the invitation of H.E. Premier Li Keqiang, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid an official visit to the People's Republic of China between May 6-10, 2013, during which he visited Shanghai and Beijing.

After months of an election atmosphere, citizens of Israel today will shape the image of the country in the coming years. Polling stations across Israel are to open at 7 am Tuesday. On Jan 1, 2013, the Shanghai Photographers Association held an opening ceremony for the photo exhibition of FOCUS ON THE ISRAELI PEOPLE. Mr. Rozenblat, Deputy Consul-General of Israel in Shanghai was invited to cut the ribbon and give an opening speech.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and China, to review the past and look forward to the future cooperation with Zhejiang province, the Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai hosted the Israeli Day in Zhejiang banquet reception in JW Marriott Hotel Hangzhou on November 29, 2012.

Exhibition Fair CITM China International Travel Mart was held in Shanghai from 15^th-18^th of November 2012.This exhibition is one of the most recognized exhibition in a national level in China.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this afternoon (Thursday, 15 November 2012), issued the following statement to the foreign press: "In recent days and weeks, Hamas and the other terrorist organizations in Gaza have made normal life impossible for over one million Israelis. No government would tolerate a situation where nearly a fifth of its people live under a constant barrage of rockets and missile fire, and Israel will not tolerate this situation. This is why my government has instructed the Israeli Defense Forces to conduct surgical strikes against the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza.<http://www.idf.il/1283-17570-EN/Dover.aspx> And this is why Israel will continue to take whatever action is necessary to defend our people.

The European Parliament ratified an extremely important technical-commercial agreement today(Tuesday, 23 October 2012). The AACA agreement (Agreements on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of industrial products) with Israel is a framework agreement that recognizes Israel industrial standards as equivalents to European standards.  An appendix regarding pharmaceutical products was added to the vote. The meaning of this is that the European Union will recognize the Israeli pharmaceutical standard, and Israeli pharmaceutical products can now be marketed without delay or further inspection (in parallel to similar marketing of European drugs in Israel). Additional appendixes covering other industrial spheres will be added to the framework agreement in the near future.

The Israeli film Treasure Hunt by Nadan Pines was awarded "Best Documentary" of the 4th Hangzhou Asian Film Festival on October 16, 2012. Mr. Rozenblat, Deputy Consul General of Israel in Shanghai presented the award to the director. 

New  Call for Proposal for Joint R&D Projects

Israeli companies are invited to apply for funding for joint R&D projects with Chinese  partners from Jiangsu province in all technological fields. 

  Jiangsu-Israel Bilateral Cooperation Program - The 7th call for Proposals is open, inviting Israeli companies and Chinese companies from the Jiangsu province to partner up and apply for funding for projects in all industry fields.

The Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai, together with the Shanghai Biennale , Shanghai Bund Investment and Development Group co-organized the Shanghai Ark: The Portraits of Old Shanghai.

An Israeli film Life in Stills was awarded the best short documentary at the 18^th Shanghai TV Festival "Baiyulan" Awards, and another Israeli film A Film Unfinished was awarded the best long documentary.

Director General of Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor Mr. Sharon Kedmi visited Shanghai and attended an official reception on Monday September 10 hosted by the Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai.

Israeli companies are invited to apply for funding for joint R&D projects with Chinese  partners in all technological fields. A New Federal Program – For the first time, Israeli companies can apply for funding with Chinese partners from all provinces. The Call is jointly administered by MATIMOP – The Israeli Industry Center for R&D, on behalf of the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor in Israel, and the Chinese Ministry of  Science and Technology (MOST).

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced today that Cornell University, in partnership with the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, has been selected to build a new graduate engineering school on an 11-acre site at Roosevelt Island. Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai celebrated “Israel Day” in an extraordinary way – the first “Israel Day” in Jiangsu Province was held in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province, on November 24, 2011.

Party Secretary of Jiangsu Province Luo Zhijun visited Israel accompanied by Consul General, Mr. Jackie Eldan. During Luo's visit, he signed an R&D cooperation agreement with the Minister of Trade and Industry.

Sino-Israel Bio-medical Industrial Park - last Monday, July 11^th there was an opening Ceremony of Israeli-Sino Technology & Product Showroom in Changzhou Bio-Medical Industrial Park.

The Defense Minister of Israel Ehud Barak visited Shanghai from June 14 to 16, 2011. This is the first visit of the Minister of Defense to China over the past ten years.

The Consulate General of Shanghai held a Special reception in honor of the Israeli 63 Independence day.

Collaborating Israeli and Shanghai companies will be eligible for grants: Israeli companies can receive grants for up to 50% of a project's R&D costs from the Office of the Chief Scientist, and the Shanghai Municipality will provide a similar level for the Chinese companies. The Ministry of Industry said that the agreement will expose companies from the countries to the needs of different markets, while the governments will provide financial support.

An Israeli Folk Dancing Group Led by Gadi Bitton held a performance at Community Center in Hongkou District, Shanghai, on April 2, 2011. Well-known Chinese dancer Jin Xing and her dancing group joined the performance. A local dancing group of which the members' average age is 50 years old took part in this interactive performance as well. Gadi Bitton was leading everyone dancing the Israeli folk dance. Different languages and national backgrounds are no longer barriers among people in music and dancing.

Consul General of Israel in Shanghai Jackie Eldan visited Wenzhou and Taizhou city in Zhejiang Province from February 22 to 25. In Wenzhou, Consul General visited No.1 Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical College, and made a speech regarding “economy and trade between Israel and China” during his visit to Wenzhou University. He also visited Geely Automobile Group, and met with mayor of Taizhou. The visit has increased the mutual understanding and potential cooperations in the future.

The Israeli author, Nir Baram, will take part in the Literary Festival of Shanghai as a guest of the Israeli Consulate. The Festival, which is organized yearly by M on the Bund, attracts many international writers from all over the world. Nir's session will be held on March 6, Sunday, at the Glamour Bar.
